Shop / braceability plantar fasciitis night splint
The Alpha Medical Plantar Fasciitis Night Splint is designed to provide relief for Plantar Fasciitis, Achilles Tendonitis, and other conditions recommended by your doctor. This night brace gently cradles your ankle in a neutral position overnight, allowing the plantar fascia and calf to be passively stretched while you sleep. This gentle stretching helps reduce muscle contracture, inflammation, and associated pain.
The lightweight, low-profile shell is sturdy and breathable, featuring three padded straps with buckles to ensure proper immobilization. The padding also includes a washable Lycra covering that is cool against the skin for maximum comfort. This product is highly recommended to be used gradually, as you slowly increase the duration of use over time to allow the tendons and ligaments in your foot to stretch out.
The night splint comes in three sizes - small, medium, and large - indicated by a sticker on the brace. The size guide is as follows:
Small (S sticker): Men's shoe size less than 7, Women's shoe size less than 7.5, Plastic shell foot length of 9 3/8". Medium (M sticker): Men's shoe size 7.5 - 10, Women's shoe size 8 - 10.5, Plastic shell foot length of 10 3/8". Large (L sticker): Men's shoe size 10.5 and up, Women's shoe size 11 and up, Plastic shell foot length of 11 1/4".
To prepare the night splint for use, begin by unattaching the three straps across the front using the quick-snaps provided. Do not loosen the dorsi-flexion straps at this time. Next, place your foot into the splint, ensuring the heel fits snugly against the heel of the splint. Attach the bottom strap and adjust until snug, making sure the straps are fed under the dorsi-flexion straps. Continue by attaching the remaining two straps and adjusting for tightness as needed.
To adjust the dorsi-flexion, simply unattach the dorsi-flexion straps and simultaneously pull to achieve the desired level of stretch. If pain is experienced with the night splint in the resting position, the wedge can be removed from under the toe to reduce dorsi-flexion.
For cleaning, hand wash the night splint using cold water and mild detergent, then air dry. Do not dry clean, iron, or bleach any part of the brace.
It is recommended to wear the night splint for only 1 hour the first night, gradually increasing the duration each subsequent night. The goal is to wear the splint overnight or for around 4 to 5 hours at a time, as the adjustable design allows you to alter the tension as needed.
Plantar fasciitis is a common condition caused by the inflammation and irritation of the plantar fascia, the ligament connecting the heel bone to the toes. This trauma can lead to heel, foot, and arch pain, often worst in the morning. Plantar fasciitis is prevalent among active individuals, such as those who spend a lot of time on their feet, runners, and athletes.
